Shea Butter

Also known as: Butyrospermum Parkii Butter

Generally SafeemollientEWG: 1-2

A rich, nourishing fat from the shea tree that deeply moisturises and softens skin.

How it works

Shea butter is rich in oleic and stearic fatty acids that closely mimic the skin's natural lipid composition. It also contains triterpene alcohols with documented anti-inflammatory activity, and unsaponifiable fractions that support barrier repair. Refined shea butter has minimal allergen risk; raw/unrefined contains more active compounds but also more potential irritants.
