A next-generation retinoid ester that binds directly to retinoid receptors without conversion, causing far less irritation.
Unlike retinol, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate is a direct retinoic acid ester that binds to retinoic acid receptors without needing enzymatic conversion. This makes it effective at lower concentrations with significantly less irritation and photosensitivity. It is stable in formulas and suitable for daily use, making it ideal for retinoid beginners or sensitive skin types.
Concentration note
Effective at 0.1–0.5% — far lower than retinol for equivalent effect.
Significantly less irritating than retinol or retinal. Pregnancy caution still applies as a retinoid class member — consult a doctor.
